We find that the Romans owed the conquest of the world to no other cause than continual military training, exact observance of discipline in their camps, and unwearied cultivation of the other arts of war. – Publius Flavius Vegetius Renatus

Immunity is the ability to protect our body from invasion of pathogenic organisms and cancer. It is a system of defence in our body just like we have it for our country. The immune system recognises foreign invaders and eliminates them with the weapon system of its own.

These weapons or armour develop throughout our life. Just like the budget affects the quality our country’s defence system, humans’ lifestyle impacts their defence system too. The more time we spend towards our betterment, more efficient the immune system becomes. The ammunition of our immune system remains the same, but the bullets used to attack on the pathogen changes based upon the kind of intruder. It is this bullet manufacturing that needs to be reorganized and upgraded regularly and this requires healthy nutritious diet and regular workout along with stable mind.

We all know for a fact how important exercise is for our body. Apart from keeping us physically and mentally fit, it also enhances our immune system to fight the invading pathogens. Even the military trainings augment the capability to defend the enemy. It is the discipline which provides you with energy, willpower, motivation, and inner strength. All these traits ultimately build our capacity to protect us from the obscure enemies- pathogenic organisms.

Though we have artificial immune system enhancers- the vaccines; they just give us the blueprint of the type of a bullet to be manufactured. The real onus lies on us. We need to build it and use it efficiently through our healthy body.

We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender. – Winston Churchill
