Sensitization towards constitutional obligations

Activities conducted

The Voter Awareness and Voter Registration Program organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit on 25/11/2023 at AISSMS College of Pharmacy aimed to promote active participation in the democratic process and raise awareness about the significance of voting. The program sought to empower the students and the local community with knowledge about their voting rights and responsibilities, and facilitate voter registration for eligible individuals. This activity was organized in association with the District Collector Office. By raising awareness about the importance of voting and assisting individuals in the voter registration process, the program contributed to building a more engaged and inclusive electorate.

Activities:

  • Awareness Campaigns: The program began with awareness campaigns that included posters, pamphlets, and interactive sessions in colleges and community centers. NSS volunteers engaged with students and community members to discuss the importance of voting and its impact on the nation’s progress. Mr. Rahul Lohokare, officer of Election Commission and his staff guided the students about the process.
  • Voter Education Session: A session was conducted to educate participants on the electoral process, voter rights, and responsibilities. Detailed information on voter registration procedures and the importance of casting an informed vote was shared.
  • Voter Registration Drives: NSS volunteers organized voter registration drives in collaboration with local election authorities. They provided guidance and support to individuals, assisting them in completing the necessary paperwork and facilitating the registration process. Total 310 new voters were registered through this drive.
  • Inclusive Outreach: Special efforts were made to reach out to first-time voters, individuals from marginalized communities, and those residing in remote areas to ensure inclusivity and maximum participation.
  • Digital Awareness: In addition to on-ground activities, the NSS Unit utilized social media platforms and online channels to spread voter awareness messages, encouraging young voters to become active participants in the democratic process.

CELEBRATION OF CONSTITUTION DAY

Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Diwas, is observed in India on November 26th every year to commemorate the adoption of the Indian Constitution on this day in 1949. It is a significant occasion that reminds citizens of the principles and values enshrined in the Constitution and the responsibilities that come with being a part of a democratic nation. AISSMS College of Pharmacy celebrated Constitution Day with great enthusiasm to promote Constitution values among citizens. This day served as an important tool for instilling a sense of pride and responsibility among students and faculty members. It provided an opportunity for everyone to reflect on the significance of the Indian Constitution and the rights it bestows upon the citizens. By organizing various activities and events, the college demonstrated its commitment to fostering awareness and understanding of the Constitution, which serves as the bedrock of India’s democratic values. The celebration served as a reminder to the academic community about the importance of being responsible citizens and contributing to the progress of the nation in alignment with the ideals laid out in the Indian Constitution.

Event Highlights:

  • Preamble Pledge of the Constitution of India: Teaching, non teaching staff and students gathered on the ground floor of the college. Everyone read the pledge of the preamble of the Constitution of India with a sense of being responsible for the duties and constitutional obligations.
  • Lecture on constitutional duties, rights and obligations: Ms. Sakshi Shinde, a student of TY B Pharm delivered a lecture for sensitizing the students and staff towards duties and rights of the citizen and constitutional obligations. She reinforced the importance of active citizenship, respect for others’ rights, and the need to fulfill one’s duties towards the nation and society.

Through such initiatives, AISSMS College of Pharmacy demonstrated its commitment to nurturing well-informed, engaged, and conscientious citizens who will contribute positively to the nation’s progress and uphold the principles laid down in the Constitution. The activity’s success also highlights the institution’s dedication to promoting holistic education that goes beyond academic excellence and includes a strong sense of civic responsibility among its students.
