2.6.2 Attainment of Programme outcomes and course outcomes by the institution.
To ensure that the Program outcomes and Program specific outcomes are attained by the B. Pharm and M. Pharm students, the POs and PSOs must be mapped with various COs throughout the program curriculum. Each Program outcome is addressed by a set of courses in the program, thus increasing the likelihood of the outcome being achieved by the end of the program.
Course Outcomes (COs) are well defined and are prepared for each course by respective subject teacher. Each department has designed the Course Outcomes for the Courses it comprises and determined the type of PO to be addressed. The mapping is done at three levels : Low (1). Medium (2) and Strong (3).
Strength of Mapping of the CO to PO. : The mapping is done over all departments based on the number of hours of the classroom sessions devoted to a particular CO which addresses the given PO. Maximum correlation is achieved when the Subject is based on Problems or Practicals. This method is followed throughout the institution. If no classroom sessions then we considered the PO is not addressed and got the value zero.
For CO attainment Direct method is used completely based on the Syllabus (Course) for the Theory and Practicals.
The Assessment pattern designed is applied by all faculties and for all subjects in the program. It is based on several Assessment Instruments like Sessional marks, Continuous Assessment, Attendance, Student teacher interaction and End semester exams for Theory subjects. Sessional marks, Continuous Assessment, Attendance, Journal, Viva marks and End semester exams for Practical subjects. 20% of Internal marks and 80% of External marks are considered. Target is set for all the B. Pharm and M. Pharm courses.
i) 60% students achieving marks more than the target value is considered Level 1,
ii) 70% students achieving more than the target value is considered Level 2,
iii) 80% students achieving more than the target value is considered Level 3.
If students achieved less than the target then the attainment is considered to be zero.
Evaluation of PO attainment: The final PO attainment is calculated by taking 80% of PO and PSO achievement from Direct method and 20% of PO and PSO achievement form Indirect method. 80% of Direct attainment was taken for the PO attainment for B. Pharm and M. Pharm passing out students. 20% of Indirect attainment was taken considering the Exit survey comprising the provisions made for students and program outcomes and program specific outcomes taken from B. Pharm semester eight and M. Pharm semester four students. The sum of the 80% direct attainment and 20% indirect attainment was done. Few co-curricular and extracurricular activities were undertaken by the students to improve the program outcome.
